This looks great. I love fennel, although I like it in pretty much all its forms. I often save the stalks as well and try to use them in vegetable soup or steam them up as a side dish another night.

And it's not just in Vegas that people forget how to drive. I'm in Boston and while people here have lived here their whole lives and driven since they were 16, as soon as there's a bit of precipitation they lose all memory of the last 87 times this happened...

I don't care for licorice flavoring either, so have never tried fennel. I've heard from a few people that the taste is entirely different when roasted so I guess I'd better try that before I write fennel off my list forever! Yes, desert rats forget how to drive in rain, or heaven forbid, snow!!

We just love all of the chicken sausage flavors. They really hit the spot, and if I don't say anything no one really knows the difference.

The soup looks good and I'm really interested in the fennel addition.

Julie, I know what you mean about snow when I lived in Houston. Everyone forgets how to drive and they all run to the store. They called for ice for us here in Missouri starting last Sunday night and the grocery stores were unbelievable. I think my hubby must have starved to death in a past life as we always have to go to the store when they call for bad weather. Right now I have 4 gallons of milk in my fridge.

    Your soup looks great!

I imagine the caramelized fennel tastes delicious with the savory sausage, this sounds like a flavorful soup. Cold weather always awakens a craving for soup, especially snow...even if it does only stay around for a few hours :). I'd like to include your recipe on our blog, please feel free to email me if you're interested. Happy holidays!

Julie, what a perfect soup to warm you during a "blizzard". I love fennel in anything, so your soup has my name written all over it. Really nice!

fennel's been on my list of things to try for awhile now, i'll have to try it caramelized first, since I'm not a huge fan of licorice...

don't you love how crazy people get at the word snow? They do it as far north as philly, a bit rediculous if you ask me :) but then again i'm from upstate ny!

    That looks so delicious!

    Julie,
Snow in Las Vegas? Who would think?
It's cold in NJ, perfect weather for your fennel or carrot soup!
    Looks great!
