Thanks, guys!!  Yes, all of a sudden BYOB has a new meaning: Bring your own BREAD!!

    The Duo Dishes

Bad bread may be the worst. It's the first thing you give to nibble on, so it should be good. We just got hockey pucks at a spot over the weekend. No good. Tell any of those offending restos to put your sticky buns on the menu. That would make all right!

    Julie Hession

Thanks, Cheri!  I hope that you enjoy them :)

    Cheri

Oh my these sound delicious! Bookmarking right now!

    Julie Hession

Thanks, Heather!  Great point about the trays.  I suppose its their last attempt to increase the size of the check, to they are trying to visually entice the customer.  Unfortunately, it usually has the opposite effect!

    Julie Hession

Thanks, Tracy!  I do the same exact thing, and yes, it annoys me too.  Next time, you should say Well have some Chateau Rochester, just to make tap water sound fancy :)

    Heather I.

I love this post! That's crazy about the water bottles, I've never heard that one before. As for dessert, I find it quite hilarious when servers carry out the tray with "examples" of each dessert. I think a picture menu is plenty good, thanks.
Gotta try those buns, they look delish!

    Tracy

Good peeves. I'm annoyed by ordering "water" and having bottled water automatically served to me. Now I say "tap water" but it annoys me.
    Your sticky buns look divine!

    Julie Hession

Angela, I completely agree.  Once a dessert has become a staple at Fridays, Chilis, etc., it should probably be considered overexposed :)

    Laurie

Yeah! Granola! I have been meaning to order some anyway. Same address. He said that you guys are going to be in SF for the Fancy food show, so we have to meet up then!

    Julie Hession

    Hi Laurie!

Yes, I definitely agree with yours too.  Being rushed through a meal is quite annoying, especially when they are so obvious about it.  As you can imagine, that happens all of the time on The Strip, where they are trying to get in as many turns as possible.

I cant believe that Eric didnt meet with you yesterday (although I know that he was swamped.)  I had sent some granola in with him to give to you.  Ill send it to you instead -- still at the same address?

    Julie Hession

Thank you, Lora!  I had a feeling that I few others out there might take issue with $10 bottles of water -- such a rip-off.  Ive been buying pears quite a bit this season so that I can experiment with them.  So far, so good!

    Julie Hession

Hi Karen!  Thank you :)  Its nice to know that I have company.  And yes, the pears became nice and juicy when baked.

    Hope you are doing well!

    Angela

Yes! Could not agree more, especially re: disappearing salt and pepper shakers. Can we all agree, too, that molten-centered chocolate cakes should be retired? Please???

    Laurie

Love your pet peeves Julie! Can I add mine? I tend to eat slower and try to enjoy the meal, and it kills me if a server or a busboy tries to take away my plate before I am done. Just because I have put down my fork, does not indicate that the meal is complete. I am finding more and more that my plate is being snatched away without even asking. I will sometimes keep my fork in my hand, as a signal that I am still eating, but even this does not always discourage the rush clear the table. On a few occasions that fork has almost turned into a weapon to guard my food.

    Lora

Definitely agree on your peeves especially the water and butter. Your sticky buns look wonderful. Outstanding flavor combination.

    Karen

I'm guessing that most people would agree with your peeves; I know I do, especially with the bread and butter. Great recipe - I bet the pears make them super moist.
